The Department of Economics was started in 1940 offering economics subject at the undergraduate level. In view of the industrial growth to meet the needs of executives, thus were born the Undergraduate (B.Com & BBM) and Postgraduate (MBA & M.Com.) courses in the "Department of Commerce & Management", which are now being offered by Sahyadri Arts & Commerce College – one of the leading educational service providers in Karnataka. Courses of commerce and management are designed to encourage ‘Entrepreneurial Skills’ or ‘Managerial Skills’ which, of late, is highly valued by employers worldwide. The B.Com. B.B.M., M.B.A., M.Com. And Diploma in B.P.O. courses relies heavily on four basic principles: Business Realities; Ideation for Problem Solving; Pragmatic Execution; and Team Work along with Leadership. The Department of Commerce and Management, the single largest faculty in Kuvempu University consists of 35 passionate and committed teachers and around 1900 students who are pursuing their under graduate and post graduate degree in the Department.
